Have you ever noticed how stores completely skip over Turkey day? They go from Holloween on October 31 directly to Christmas on November 1. It’s almost like Thanksgiving doesn’t matter anymore!
Well, it matters to me. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to hang out with family, overindulge and finish holiday dress. Though this year, I won’t be making a traditional dress. This year we’re going for something bolder — a lace jumpsuit.
The pattern from Vogue makes my heart melt. It’s the right blend of chic, modern and feminine. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t inspired by Emma Stone’s Jumpsuit.
It’s just so perfect. The beaded bodice and the long ties grazing the floor. Trust me, if I could have located the exact pattern it would be on my body ASAP. But I couldn’t. Not to mention, it would’ve been overkill for any of my holiday events.
So, I ended up going with Vogue’s v9160. The package says it’s Easy and after reading through the instructions, I have to agree with it. It’s pretty straight forward. It’s lined jumpsuit with shoulder pads, a fitted bodice, French seams, straight-legged pants, with side pockets and invisible zipper. The hardest thing is probably getting the lace to line up right.
I haven’t officially purchased the fabric yet, but I’ve saved two shopping carts at MoodFabrics.com and StylishFabrics.com. The fabrics are below. Normally, I never choose the fabrics of the line drawing, but I really like this pattern in black lace. So, what the hay! I decided to roll with it.
If you’ve sewn this pattern before or know a blogger who has done so, can you leave a link in the comments? I’ve googled around a couple of times with no luck.
Happy Sewing! Can’t wait to get started on this one.
